My weight, plus another race and tumbles
I’m always thrilled to blog about a weekend of yours that was filled with more terrific times than tantrums, and more winning than whining. And this was one of them.
I think that preparing you for what’s to come is helping you to embrace what is. For example, before we leave for somewhere, I explain fully where we’re going and who will be there, and I’m finding that you’re more chilled and confident settling into new environments. Maybe it’s just coincidental, but ever since I started spelling things out, you’ve been way more relaxed. I’m pretty much the same – I like knowing as much as possible about what I can expect at a function/race/event etc.
On Friday night at a Shabbat dinner, I was worried that you’d be fazed by all the people there, but you were awesome and in a great space. You ate quite a bit, demonstrating your taste for rather expensive food – you hoovered two large helpings of salmon!
On Saturday afternoon we hung out at Serendipity and you had a ball. Lately you’ve been a bit clingy there, but this time I barely saw you. You swung, you tumbled, you rode and you ran around. Warning: please always hold onto the swings. I think I lost a year of my life panicking when you let go.
Yesterday we ran another 10km which taught me two things: I’m bloody unfit, and I’m bloody unfit. I could barely push myself up the hills, let alone you and your jogger. You had a great time, and have taken to drinking some water and Coke at water points like runners do.
On the weight front, I’ve lost 1.8kg and I’m hoping I didn’t eat it back in ice cream on Friday night. Usually the beginning of a diet will yield the best results, but here’s hoping I can keep up some loss.
