Cows, cameras and wild chases

Dear Max

On Sunday we headed to Irene Dairy Farm for the first time. I wanted to have fun at a new place with you, and try out my new (and very novice) acquired photo know-how after a short course I went to.

I still have a looong way to go before I can take good pictures and sometimes it feels like I should revert to my iPhone so that I don’t have to juggle five things when it comes to composing a decent pic.

Anyway, you had a wonderful time at the dairy farm. You’ve become a climber, trying to traverse walls, fences and jungle gyms. There was a tractor you played on, and a stream of water you drank from (unless the water looks very skanky or bilharzia-like), I don’t fight the battle. So far, what you’re drinking seems to be keeping you strong.

There’s a great store at Irene and as I was filling our basket with honey, dressings and condiments, you vanished. One minute you were pulling nougat off the shelf, and the next you were gone. After running up, down and around a few times, I found you in the most obvious place you could have been – in the sandpit by the jungle gym. My shattered nerves and heart. You don’t know it, but every time I lose sight of you I age, angst and think of 100 worst-case scenarios.

Next weekend I’m hoping to hit The Lion Park with you. Here’s hoping to better exposed pics, and no runaway incidents.
