Dear Max

On Sunday we headed to Irene Dairy Farm for the first time. I wanted to have fun at a new place with you, and try out my new (and very novice) acquired photo know-how after a short course I went to.

I still have a looong way to go before I can take good pictures and sometimes it feels like I should revert to my iPhone so that I don’t have to juggle five things when it comes to composing a decent pic.

Anyway, you had a wonderful time at the dairy farm. You’ve become a climber, trying to traverse walls, fences and jungle gyms. There was a tractor you played on, and a stream of water you drank from (unless the water looks very skanky or bilharzia-like), I don’t fight the battle. So far, what you’re drinking seems to be keeping you strong.

There’s a great store at Irene and as I was filling our basket with honey, dressings and condiments, you vanished. One minute you were pulling nougat off the shelf, and the next you were gone. After running up, down and around a few times, I found you in the most obvious place you could have been – in the sandpit by the jungle gym. My shattered nerves and heart. You don’t know it, but every time I lose sight of you I age, angst and think of 100 worst-case scenarios.

Next weekend I’m hoping to hit The Lion Park with you. Here’s hoping to better exposed pics, and no runaway incidents.

  1. Lion Park – we’re there!!!

  2. We were there on Sunday too!
Although I’m not sure if we’ll go back to the restaurant (the one down in the gardens – not the coffee shop). The only choice for lunch there is the buffet, which, priced at R105 per adult, is decidedly ordinary – we felt thoroughly ripped off. Perhaps the best option is to go to the coffee shop for a capucchino and a slice of cake so that the kids can play… but we won’t be going back there for a meal again.

    • Agreed, restaurant is pricey. Sorry we missed you :)

  3. I love to go to Irene Farm as well and I do agree, the kids love it too. But they are a bit pricey as well especially the restaurant.

  4. That love place…so beautiful! Love your pics!

    • Thank you! I have a looong way to go before my pics look anything like yours! :)

  5. Thanks for great idea about another great place to go! Love your pics! Max is getting big!
