Which nursery school? The writing’s on the wall

Dear Max

After lamenting here and here about what school to choose for you, and after a long time of discussing and thinking, we have decided on School B, which is more of a schlep, but less soul destroying as far as schools go. I know this sounds a bit dramatic, but School B is a more homely, nurturing and “us” environment. Plus you got a spot, at this late stage, and for that I’m grateful and have made a virtual promise to help with the school’s newsletter and website as a thank you to the universe.

I know we should essentially choose schools for our kids first, but in this case I’m choosing both of us. School B is a place I can see myself walking into without a massive complex, helping at cake and candy sales, and getting involved with the “community”. And I think it will filter down to you. And I think you’ll find your groove and your place there, and I’m excited for us, compared to a sense of foreboding about School A, even worse than my own nervousness when I was at school.

Here’s to playdates, learning, growth, paintings, projects and your mom trying to work out the change at the cake and candy sale.

I wish I had this settled. I have Baby OL down on a waiting list for 2014 at the school I would really like her to go to but they are already full. I am not left with two choices, neither of which I really am happy with.

Yes, it definitely will filter down! Kids pick it up instantly when a person, situation or place puts us on edge, so I'm really glad for you that you've found a school that's good for all of you. I also based my choice of creche on the people and their attitudes more than anything else, and I'm glad I did. My boys are happy and comfortable there, and that's all I really care about.

I am so glad you guys decided on a school cool enough for Mom, Max and Dad! PS Every kid loves a mom who works at the cake and candy sale, better get your change making skills up to the challenge ;)
