Win a Sony Cyber-shot W530 camera here

December 13, 2011

Just in time for the holidays, Sony is giving away a sexy Cyber-shot W530 camera to one blog subscriber.

This gorgeous camera forms part of Sony’s Top Ten Must-Haves this season, and aside from fitting perfectly into your handbag, has a 4X optical zoom, intelligent scene recognition, what’s called a Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar lens, and functions such as iAuto/P Auto/SCN/Movie/Sweep Panorama.

As part of their latest Top Ten Must-Haves campaign, Sony has been publishing lists of top 10s, and I love this one – the top 10 holiday poses. I particularly adore the Where’s Wally idea!

To enter to win a Sony Cyber-shot, you need to subscribe to this blog, and comment on this post, with your list of top 10 things to do in the festive season – it could be opening a present, swimming in the sea, or lying on the beach. Anything goes, but please don’t be mean or rude.

If you share this post on Facebook or Twitter, you’ll get an added entry to the draw.

The new owner of this camera will be announced on Friday… good luck!

My Top 10 Things To Do Over The Festive Season (in Cape Town) :

    1. Kirstenbosch concert – doesn’t matter which one, just grab some friends/ family, a picnic basket and a bottle of wine, and enjoy the music.

    2. Brave the water at Camps Bay or Clifton – nothing more refreshing, on a hot day, than a swim (quick dip) in the icy water.

    3. Put up a Christmas Tree – always gets me in the festive mood. Also add Christmas music and mince pies. Try have presents wrapped a few days before the big day so your tree doesn’t look lonely.

    4. Ratanga Junction – only fun when the weather is warm, so best time to go is now.

    5. Sunset Cruise – many boats at the waterfront to choose from. Warm evenings and calm seas in summer make it the perfect time to go. Usually includes champagne!

    6. Wondering around the outdoor markets – so many to choose from at this time of year, and you’re bound to find a gift for someone.

    7. Hiking up Lion’s Head

    8. Carols by Candlelight – my favourite place is at Kirstenbosch

    9. Strawberry/ Cherry Picking – tis the season: eat as much as you like while you’re picking, and then you can buy whatever you’ve picked.

    10. Shopping – it has to be done. Go early, with a list and hopefully you’ll be out before lunch. (Try not to buy anything for yourself – which is what I end up doing)

And take pictures of all the above to share the spirit around. 🙂

My list of top 10 things to do:
    1. Spend an afternoon outside with my little boy. Whether it’s just running around or playing in the sprinklers.
    2. Take a drive to nowhere. Just get in the car and drive. You’ll be amazed at the places you’ll find.
    3. Spend a day at the beach. Slather on the sunscreen and put a hat on the little one and just enjoy his awe and wonder at having the sand between his toes. Oh and watch that he doesn’t eat the sand.
    4. Braai with friends. What’s the festive season without a braai (and some whiskeys).
    5. Spend some alone time with hubby. Because we all know that a baby can put a strain on even the strongest relationships.
    6. Take little boy to see the Christmas lights. He may not understand it just yet, but I’ll get some joy out of it.
    7. Have at least one girls night. Get Dad to babysit, put on your best dress and kick your heels up. Your girls are there for you when you need them and spending quality time together is awesome!
    8. Eat. Eat. Eat. Blow the diet, it’s festive season!
    9. Watch baby boy open gifts on Christmas Day. He’ll probably be more interested in the wrapping but reliving childhood experiences of excitement and wonder should be fantastic.
    10. Relax and enjoy the time with family.

Aloha, Tanya! (See what I did there? It’s all about the holidays!)

You know, December tends be a hot mess of beach sand, tequila, roasts and family (in no particular order) so I think a Top 10 list is a great idea to keep things in check and to perhaps assist in the recollection of this Christmas whirlwind. Here we go:

    1. Laughing at the massive influx of mullets and rosaries in Durban. Yes, we see your GP number plates…
    2. House-hunting in Umdloti and ending the ‘long-distance’ part of my relationship.
    3. Hooking oneself up to a Patron IV.
    4. Eating approximately double my body weight in food at every sitting. Or, as us Bissets call it, The Feed.
    5. Going waaaaay over budget with presents for my 4 and 6 year old cousins.
    6. Consequently, applying for an overdraft.
    7. Drinking some worthy concoction out of a pineapple / coconut / any fruit that holds liquid.
    8. Falling deeper in love. I know… I know.
    9. Turning my body into a colour that does not reflect light.
    10. Photographing it all. (Shameless. Askies.)
